What does bespoke mean?
The term bespoke refers to a product that is tailor-made specifically to your requirements. This means that when you come to us for a website we will make it based entirely on what you need the site to be capable of. Usually anything bespoke will be more expensive than, say, a website made by a website builder like Wix or Squarespace, however these website builders use prebuilt templates to build your site which may be reused all over the internet. Of course these days there are a lot of options in these website builders to tailor the design a bit more, but with a bespoke site built by our designers there’s no restriction on functionality or design as we can make almost anything you could ask for.
Why use a web design company over a website builder?
Website builders have become very popular in recent years as they are usually quite cheap and don’t require you to learn HTML, CSS or JavaScript. However, this limits the websites functionality and design to whatever the creators of the theme you’re using has made available. This naturally means you might not even be able to implement all the features you want on your website, as well as being restricted in design choices. It may be more expensive to buy a bespoke site, but you’ll get a lot more freedom in your site’s visuals and features when our designers have unlimited freedom in what they can make possible. All this without you having to learn a word of code because we do it for you. You will also have more time to focus on your business and not have to worry about making changes to your site because we will also make any changes at your request at any time.
Hosting
When it comes to where you host your website there are many options to keep in mind. Where is the hosting service located? How fast/slow is the connection? How much freedom and control do I have? These are all important to the functionality of your website, and sometimes can be a game changer. With both a website builder and a bespoke website design company there are going to be monthly and/or annual costs to keep your servers up and running, however the difference is most web design companies have multiple options for hosting each with their own benefits and drawbacks, whereas a website builder like Wix or Squarespace will provide the hosting themselves which doesn’t allow for much freedom of choice on your part. It also means that if any issues arise on the hosting side you’re at the mercy of the website builder to fix problems and will have to suffer any potential down time, however bespoke designers such as ourselves have multiple hosting services, and can move your site if the original host breaks, leaving you with minimal to no downtime.
